On the camera front, the Redmi Note 5 is said to come with a 12-megapixel camera on the rear and a 5-megapixel camera on the front. A previous report had hinted that the Redmi Note 5 may be powered by Qualcomm’s newly announced Snapdragon 636 processor. The Snapdragon 636, based on 14nm manufacturing process, supports full screen devices with a FHD+ resolution which means Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 5 may make use of this functionality.
Since the Snapdragon 636 is expected to start shipping in November, phones powered by the chip set may hit markets by early next year. There have been rumors that there will be two versions of the Redmi Note 5, one with a MediaTek processor for China and another with a Qualcomm processor for markets like India. While Xiaomi may chose to launch the MediaTek version by the end of this year, a Qualcomm-based version may happen sometime early next year.
Additionally, the alleged Redmi Note 5 was previously speculated to come with a dual camera system on the rear consisting of one 16-megapixel camera and another 5-megapixel camera. Also, since Xiaomi is yet to make a formal announcement on the same, it is advisable that you take this piece of information with a pinch of salt.
